You can customize the appearance of your Presto survey as follows:

  • Use one of our themes
  • Add a logo at the beginning of the survey
  • Change the survey color
  • Add a background image

Using a Presto theme

To use a Presto theme, follow these steps:

  1. Select your survey from the drop-down at the top of the screen, then go to Surveys -> Edit Survey.
  2. Click the Appearance button below the survey name.
  3. Click the Pick a Theme tab.
  4. Select a pre-made theme.
  5. Click Update Preview to see what the theme looks like. If you don't like it, choose another theme or click Revert to Defaults.
  6. Click the checkmark to close the popup and click Save at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Adding a logo

To add a logo at the beginning of the survey, follow these steps:

  1. Select your survey from the drop-down at the top of the screen, then go to Surveys -> Edit Survey.
  2. Click the Appearance button below the survey name.
  3. Check Use Custom Logo.
  4. Click Choose File and browse to find your logo image.
  5. Click Update Preview to see what the logo looks like. If you don't like it, uncheck the Use Custom Logo checkbox.
  6. Click the checkmark to close the popup and click Save at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Logos are resized to a maximum of 300 pixels in the larger dimension.  If you want a larger image (for example, a banner), use a background image instead.

Changing the survey color

To change the survey color, follow these steps:

  1. Select your survey from the drop-down at the top of the screen, then go to Surveys -> Edit Survey.
  2. Click the Appearance button below the survey name.
  3. Click on the color swatch and choose the color to use for headers and your survey outline. You can either use the color chooser or enter the hex code for your color. Click Choose.
  4. Click the Light or Dark button. The Light button uses your custom color for text and borders and a lighter shading for the background, and the Dark button uses your custom color for background and a lighter text color.
  5. Click Update Preview to see what the custom color looks like. If you don't like it, select a different color or click Revert to Defaults to clear your changes.
  6. Click the checkmark to close the popup and click Save at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

NOTE: although the settings allow you to enter a hex code, you will not get that exact color.  Instead, Presto uses the hue from the selected color with varying lightness for the different areas of the screen (survey background, question background, question text, button background, button text, etc.).  For an explanation of hue/saturation/lightness, click here.

Add a background image

To add a background image, follow these steps:

  1. Select your survey from the drop-down at the top of the screen, then go to Surveys -> Edit Survey.
  2. Click the Appearance button below the survey name.
  3. Check Use Custom Background.
  4. Click Choose File and browse to find your background image.
  5. Wait until you can see a thumbnail of your background, then click Update Preview to see what the theme looks like. If you don't like it, uncheck the box, recheck it and select a different background image, or click Revert to Defaults.
  6. Click the checkmark to close the popup and click Save at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Tip for background images: you'll need to experiment a little with your background size to find what looks best, but an image about 1250 pixels wide is a good starting point. Different devices handle background images differently -- some fix the image in place and some scroll -- so if you're using a background image, we recommend using an image that fades at the bottom and setting a background color to match the fade.

Want to imbed a larger "logo" in a background image?  First, create the background including the larger image, as per the above instructions.  Next, create a very small (1x1) TRANSPARENT image, and use that as the logo (see the example below).  The invisible "logo" will "float" over the background image, which contains the larger logo.
