Overview


As part of our fraud prevention strategy, Presto has created a new global qualification that is available to all of our partners for use in their batches.  This qualifications requires a shopper to have successfully filled out a W9 form with Presto.  In order to be considered successful, the W9 form must meet the following criteria:


  • The tax ID be syntactically correct (i.e., must meet the standards established by the IRS) and must not match the tax ID of any other shopper account
  • The name and address on the form must not match that on any other shopper's form
  • The city and postal code must be correct according to the USPS database


The qualification is automatically granted to all shoppers whose W9 form passes.  Having the qualification does not mean that the W9 has been vetted by the IRS.


Using the W9 qualification


The W9 qualification can be applied by Presto support to any Presto batch in addition to any other qualifications that you would like to place on the batch.   When clicking on a map pin for a batch that has the W9 qualification:

  • If the shopper has not submitted a valid W9, they will see 
    • A message stating that they must successfully complete a tax information form, with a link to the W9 page
    • Any other qualifications required by the batch, unless the shopper already has those qualifications
  • If they shopper has already submitted a valid W9, they will only see any other qualifications that are present on the batch.  




Adding the W9 qualification to batches


Like all qualifications, the W9 qualification must be added by Presto support.  Please contact our support team at support@prestomobilesurveys.com with the batch IDs of all batches that you would like to add this qualification to.



NOTE: you cannot add or revoke the W9 qualification from shopper accounts.  Shoppers may only obtain this qualification by completing a valid W9 form.
